Halloween, Anyone?

Okay, it’s probably too late to order a Halloween costume online. But if you’re hitting up a thrift store or boutique in the final days leading up to Halloween, searching frantically for that perfect costume, I’ve got a few ideas that just might inspire you.

Decadence

Think Kirsten Dunst as Marie Antoinette. Candy colored ballgowns, vintage corsets, lace cuffs, and countless strings of pearls. Sweep your hair into an updo and powder your face. This is one instance where less is not more. Deck yourself out in the most extravagent outfit you can find, and perfect the flirtatious art of communicating with your lace and ostrich feather fan. You’ll have an absolutely smashing time at whatever ball you are attending, and you are sure to be the queen of the universe, if just for one night.

iPod Person

You know the ones - the black silhouettes with the white iPods that dance crazily across your tv screen, magazine pages, billboards. It’s a simple enough costume. Just dress all in black, preferrably black turtleneck and stretchy black pants. Feel free to add black ski mask, although you might be mistaken for a robber. Then, plug into your iPod and dance like a maniac lost in your own world. Sure, you might be blatantly advertising for Apple, but it’s a simple costume that many will find hilarious.

Peace & Quiet

A funny play on words for a couple. One person dresses like a hippie, tie-dye shirts, peace signs, bell bottoms, long messy hair with flowers woven in, flowy peasant skirts. The other person dresses as a mime, black pants, striped shirt, powdered white face, suspenders. Together, you represent peace and quiet. See if anyone can figure it out. You might get a lot of funny stares, but for the person who “gets” it - it’ll be a hoot.

Whatever you do for Halloween, whether it’s going to a masquerade ball, trick or treating, handing out candy, pigging out on candy, or all of the above - have fun and don’t worry about calories for the day!
