First it was boomers, then preppies and yuppies — now there’s a new societal solidarity group on the block. Say hello to the Scuppies.
Scuppies stands for Socially Conscious, Upwardly Mobile People. According to the Scuppie manifesto, Scuppies want to save the earth but enjoy themselves while they do it.
The man who coined the term says Scuppies favour organic lattes, wear recycled clothing and use non-aerosol mousse to hold that perfectly dishevelled “do” in place. Chuck Failla says you can’t throw a stick in a Starbucks or Whole Foods parking lot without hitting a Scuppie.
He’s promising a Scuppie handbook soon. He calls it a practical guide to living well while doing good.
