If you are bored this Sunday in Vancouver and need something to get your mind off of the “I have to go back to work tomorrow” blues, why not hit up the Pacific Cinematheque on Homer Street (7:30pm showing) and check out the screening of Devil Plays Hardball.

The synopsis is pretty simple: Take four successful, well reputed Vancouverites and see if they can motivate and change the lives of some homeless people in the slums of Vancouver who want to change there life but are prevented due to their circumstances.

Sounds like a pretty attention grabbing film to me and raises some fairly thought provoking questions: does a mentor approach REALLY work on people and society as a whole? do homeless people really want to make a change in their life? are homeless people actually offered the means to change? The films gives a realistic, not so glamourized, radical look at the trials and tribulations for the homeless that society chooses to ignore.
