We recently had an interview with Dace Moore, one of our favourite Vancouver designs specializing in great European fabrics and elegant, feminine cuts.

CS: Tell us about your choices of fabrics. Why so exquisite?

Dace: We get everything made locally in Vancouver; we also try to source everything in Vancouver as well. With that said – it started becoming harder to find new fabrics in Vancouver that didn’t cross over with other local designers. So we started importing fabrics from Europe. The fabrics from there are absolutely amazing. I feel in love with the soft pallets and different textures of the linens, cottons and bamboo fabrics.

CS: What does Elegance mean to you? And do you see much of it in how women dress today?

Dace: Elegance to me is looking sexy and confident – but at the same time still looking really classy. I do see it in how women dress today. With our studio in Gastown, I see a lot of really well dressed and groomed women.

CS: What are the inspirations behind Candi, Jimena and Osana?

Dace: The whole collection in general was inspired by a trip to Europe that I took prior to designing it. I came back to Vancouver feeling really fresh – and put that energy into the new collection.

CS: Five things you cannot live without this Spring and Summer?

Dace: my dace summer dresses, vintage sandals, my bike, a good vintage satchel and my sunglasses.
