Coheed & the Camera Girls

This blog might be somewhat of a rant, and hopefully a lesson. Last night, my fiancee and I ventured off to see one of our favorite bands, Coheed & Cambria at MacEwan Hall in Calgary, AB, going to see live bands is something we do quite often. Now, I don’t know if it’s the fact that I’m getting a little older, or the fact that I’ve been a fiend of going to see live music since the ripe age of 14. Although Coheed was amazing and I couldn’t have expected anything less, we did not enjoy ourselves last night. Why you ask????? Every young girl (young being younger than 20) watched the entire show thru their phones camera, taking frame by frame by frame of crappy camera phone quality photos, not taking even a second to look up and enjoy the band currently playing on stage. So, because they all pushed their way to the front of the floor, we too got to watch the whole thing thru 100’s of little camera, not to mention having their arms stretched out across our shoulders with their purses digging into our ribs. I miss the days when cameras were not allowed in concerts and people actually had to watch the band, it was a much nicer atmosphere. So please, if you need to take a photo or two of your fav band playing on stage, take a photo or two, but please be respectful of the people around you who want to enjoy the music, have a little room to dance and see the band on stage, not on a 2×3 screen! Getting hundreds of blurry photos of the lead singer doesn’t make you cool.
