Here’s another reason to be proud as a Canadian and as a Vancouverite.  For the last month, I have been watching a documentary television series called This is 4 Real on MTV Canada.  This locally produced series has grown from just a documentary to creating an online community and creating educational materials and fundraisers.  The riveting series follows celebrities to various parts of the world such as Peru, Kenya, Haiti and even my own city, Vancouver.  You get to see the celebrities witness and experience the heartaches, violence, poverty, and various issues that a community must struggle with on a daily basis.  But it also takes you behind the leaders and people who try to make a difference.  It touches you when you see someone like Flea from the Red Hot Chilli Pepper being humbled by the dedicated nurse who try to help the women and children in the Haiti community.  It made me teary eyed to see this young woman whose baby girl was sick with pnemonia and the mother was too poor to take her to the local clinic.  Catch this award winning series and it’ll change your perspective about the world and teach you about human triumph over adversity.
