Fashion genius and one of the greatest figures of fashion passed away a few days ago.  This pioneer was born style prodigy.  At only 17 he worked for another French designer, Christian Dior, then at 21 he took over the Dior house.  After a very brief stint in the army, he came back to start his line, YSL.  He defines ‘fashion forward’ with his ever evolving revolutionary style.  He was the first to popularize ‘ready to wear’ and democratizing fashion (ie suits for females) in the 1960s and the first to black models in his runway shows.  His work has been honoured and showcased in museums around the world.  And like an art piece preserved in a museum, his mark on fashion will forever be admired and remembered.
