To Dine or Not to Dine

The end of another long work week is coming and you want to chill with your partner or friends over a nice meal. But the age old question (and regularly occurring every week) comes up….where to eat? Not that we are short on restaurants, it’s quite the opposite. With an astounding over 100 restaurants opening last year in Vancouver, the choices are overwhelming. But have no fear, there are tons of informative and very Web 2.0 food sites and forums out there. There are few I like to visit to get the latest opinion on a new dive or a hidden gem-of-a-hole in the wall dining experience.
Urban Diner: The insider for insiders. This website created by one-time waiter and now food writer and critic, Andrew Morrison, holds much influence over the Vancouver food industry. From restauranteurs to saavy diners to PR folks, this is the place where food industry know-hows get to check out and share the latest gossip.
Food Vancouver: This is a pretty comprehensive online food magazine which lists all if not most of the restaurants around the Greater Vancouver and Lower Mainland area.
Dine Here: This is probably the first site I go to when I need candid opinions before I venture off to a new dining experience. This is an ever growing website with all types of restaurants that you can think of accompanied with honest reviews from diners.
Dining Out Guide: If you come across a restaurant site that doesn’t have a menu, you can probably find it here. This is a fairly comprehensive directory of restaurants, lounges, and cafes with up to date menus, featured recipes, and news.
