As you can tell with the previous hockey related articles, I’m an avid Canucks fan. So I was saddened to hear that Trevor Linden, the heart, soul, and face of the Canucks announced his retirement. His fans sort of knew that this might be his last year and thus the emotional standing ovation at the last Canucks game of the season. He joined the Canucks at 18 as a hockey phenom and at only 21 he became captain. Aside from his team spirit and leadership on ice, he was also active in the community during his offtime. He has undertaken a variety of Vancouver based foundations and charities and is a familiar face in places like the BC Children’s Hospital and Canucks Place.
He will always be seen as a Vancouver star and icon. I think Trevor said it best with “If somebody asked me to come up with a mental image of my hockey career, there is absolutely no doubt I would be wearing the uniform of the Vancouver Canucks in it”.
