krejci_noor-bag.jpg krejci_kolja-wallet.jpgkrejci_bin-lunchbag.jpg Imagine a world where Fashion and saving the environment can go hand in hand. This day in age, it is incredibly possible with everyone trying to make a difference. One company, Krejci, in Amsterdam, is doing just that. “Krejci Amsterdam stands for an innovative combination of clear design, use of original materials and a production conscious of social and environmental issues”. Making bags and accessories, which are stunning, from used tire tubes and air beds, this company is definitely heading in the right direction. With only a few locations in North America, these bags are currently hard to find. Check out the website for some worldwide locations, just incase you happen to be cruising europe!

Whirlwind of a Month

What a month July turned out to be, can’t believe it’s August already. With one planned vacation, and one unexpected trip, a couple birthdays and a busy work schedule, July just seemed to float on right past me, where does the time go! I find that with every year of age I tack onto my life, the calendar years get shorter and shorter. When I was a kid a year seemed like an eternity, birthdays and Christmas were LONG awaited. These days, I can’t seem to run fast enough from them. I’d like to sit down with an elder and see if the cycle continues, or if, hopefully, it starts slowing down again. If it continues, it will seem like every time I wake up a new year will have dawned. Anyways, hope you enjoyed your July, and may August be a little less hectic!

Once known as a game for hippies, it has evolved into a respected global sport phenomenon.  You can catch a glimpse of the elite, the World Ultimate and Guts Championships, from August 2 to August 9 at UBC.  The best way to describe this disc game is it has a myriad of familiar rules from football, soccer, and basketball.  Those who play the game, such as I, enjoy saying it’s more than just throwing a frisbee around.

Okay, there were traffic and shuttle issues for sure but all in all the Pemberton Festival was amazing.  Great music and a good vibe…looking forward to next year.  The Mount Currie backdrop is hard to beat!  There is some cool merchandise on the site too…love the retro Pemberton limited edition poster. www.pembertonfestival.com  I posted some other pictures from the show too if you are interested in what it looked like.  www.snickerdoodles.typepad.com  The festival page also has some nice close ups of the shows.

imagesrootscom.jpgIf you are like me your purse is stuffed.  It could be anything from diapers to my camera and lenses.  I am constantly rummaging around to find a lipgloss or such.  I saw a great bag today and I wanted to share.  The shoulder strap feels great too and it’s so well designed.  The colours are to die for,  Kelly Green, Red, Purple and Caramel…as well as brown and boring old black.  It’s from Roots, I now have a link to shop Roots and Roots clearance from my blog page too.  There are some great deals right now!  I am ordering this bag tonight,  I haven’t found a purse I loved in a couple of years now.  Happy shopping!  The clearance section in womens have some great tops for under $20.

So what event brings people as different as the colours of the rainbow together, throws the best party of the year, and showcases some of the hottest bodies?  It’s the Gay Pride Festival Week.  During this jam packed festive week, there is going to be a host of events such as the East Side Pride and the East Side Pride dance, followed by Gay Day at Playland, Picnic in the Park, Dine with Pride, Pride Movie Night, Terry Wallace Memorial Breakfast, Youth Dance as well as the famous Pride Parade & Festival.

This is going to be THE big one as the Vancouver Pride Parade celebrates 30 years of the celebration of diversity and equality. Show your colours, support, and pride by partying it up this week.

bottles

Reduce your carbon foot print by cutting back on the terrible plastic water bottles that plague your environment!

Being an ex-disposable water bottle addict, pro Sigg water bottle fanatic, I want to share such benefits with everyone. If you find yourself constantly re-using your Starbucks Ethos water bottle, or any other mineral water bottle in general, you may not realize that this is very bad for your body, even though you might believe it is an environmentally great idea! Why? Dangerous levels of bacteria and toxic plastic compounds have been found in water bottles that have been reused… in other words.. ITS NOT GOOD FOR YOUR BODY!!!

In general, these bottles are not designed for the reusage and the plastic is meant to break down over time… so everytime you find yourself re-filling that water bottle, you could not only be drinking bit of toxic bad stuff, but you could only create a breeding ground for bacteria as these bottles never fully dry out completely….

You could fall back on or resort to your “Nalgene” / Polycarbonate water bottle, but you may want to reconsider your options since they have been linked to causing cancer and other unpleasant effects.

You’re solution? Get an aluminum water bottle? To make it even better get a Sigg water bottle! These nifty little aluminum bottles are pretty rad with their limited edition exclusive graphic designs that change every year! Currently they have a Japanese Art series with some amazing prints. The Sigg water bottle is the perfect accessory to go with your outfit!

Besides being non lethal to your health, other benefits of using the Sigg water bottle are:

Enjoy! :)

I’m sure you’ve heard this summer’s smash hit, Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl”.  This infectious tune is on top of the billboards and already the remixes are coming out fast.  I found the Khak Black take on the song to be one of the better and original ones out there.  It’s even more tongue in cheek with the uber sexy video.  The clip is slightly naughtier than PG 13 so viewer’s discretion is advised…and this video is intended for a mature audience with a likelihood to make you sing and blush.
