Need a fun way to cool down from a hot summer day?  Why not join Vancouver’s Largest Water Fight next week?  It’s an all out, no holds bar, wet event where you bring out your best ‘plastic’ artillery, aka the super soaker, blast away at friends and strangers.  It was a riot of a time last year, and this year will definitely be bigger, louder, and wetter.

I’ll be there next weekend….so take your best shot ;-)

July 12th : 1 pm
Lumbermans Arch, Stanley Park

Canucks flying the coup

Naslund’s tenure with the Canucks comes to a somewhat unexpecting end.  He has signed on with the Rangers, our Stanley Cup rival over ten years ago, for a two year deal of $8 million.  Sadly, he had to take it because Canucks management did not propose a deal with Markus Naslund.  Like Linden and many others, he made a great impact during his time in Vancouver.  He is the franchise’s all time leading scorer and at one point the league’s all around MVP.  But since the Bertuzzi incident, personally, you can see Naslund’s performance diminishing to the point where he was moved down to the second or third line, and then you barely saw him on the ice last season.  As it is hard for us to see him leave, it’ll be hard for him and his family too.  He’s been with the team for over ten years and has established himself as a well recognized face of Vancouver.  He has also generously donated to local charities and hospitals.  Sadly, he commented to reporters that he always saw himself retiring as a Canuck.

Another iconic player who may be leaving too is Brendan Morrison.  How can one not forget the moment where he was jumping for joy and thumbing the walls of the penalty box when saw his team mate made the pivotal winning goal?

With these key players leaving the Canucks, what does the future hold for our successful team?

Welcome to the Gentleman’s Club

Thanks to producer, Jamie Foxx, we can welcome MTV’s From G’s to Gents this July 15th. I for one am rather excited to see 14 young guys’ transformation from ghetto fabulous to dapper gentlemen. I think the major hiphop players are maturing and refining. It’s no longer about just about baggy clothes and sports attire, but it’s more about presenting yourself in finer things, like silk, and tailored suits. With hiphop celebrities like Kanye West, Russel Simmons, and P. Diddy, you can definitely see a change in the wind. I think it’d be great to revive the romantic old Hollywood glam. I wonder how the young people will react, and how they will interpret this new look into their lives. But all fashion aside, the contestants will go through training with etiquette and poise. I think the world is in short of gentlemen, and it would be brilliant to see more Gents than G’s on the street.

How To Look Good Naked

howtolookgoodnaked.jpg No, I’m not offering advise on the latest cellulite cream, I’m merely talking about the show. If you’ve never seen it, go look for it on the satellite. How To Look Good Naked was featured on Oprah quite a few months back, but it’s only recently that I’ve started watching it on TV. What a feel good show this is! Stylist Gok Wan takes women from the UK, whom have extremely low self esteem, whether they’ve recently just had a baby, or have just survived breast cancer, or just simply do not have a good self image, Wan sure knows how to turn that all around. First he makes them pick out where they belong, in order of size out of a line up of women, then after they get that horribly wrong, he makes them realize just what size they are, how to dress to make their best features stand out, gives them a makeover, and makes them have a naked photo shoot. The difference in these women, is generally a total 360, they love who they are and end up being very confident, beautiful women. Even my fiancee enjoys watching it, not because there are naked women on the tube for 1/2 an hour, but because of the transformation. Here’s the website, take a look, find it on your local listing, your wont be disappointed.

Oh I have to have these!

Krazy Fuse-ion

Usually the last or first Friday of the month, the Vancouver Art Gallery holds a psychadelic funky all night event called FUSE.  It’s where music and live performance merges with art.  This weekend is going to be especially crazy as it will combine with its current exhibit, Krazy.  The Krazy exhibit explores the world of cartoons, animation, and anime/manga.  I checked out this exhibit a few days ago and it brought out the child in me.  It brought back memories of when I indulged my time with Ranma1/2, Sailor Moon, and Dragon Ball.  I’m still an avid fan of anime movies like Spirited Away and Princess Mononoke.

Tonight’s events will definitely be an attack to your senses.  There will be live illustrations done to music, performance art and a 12 hour Comic draw where local artists will try to create a comic book in 12 hrs.

Who says Vancouver was boring?

Raising Awareness for IBD

Again I come to my fellow Chosen Stock readers & writers for the awareness of Crohn’s & Colitis. The CCFC (Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of Canada) is hosting it’s annual Heel n’ Wheel Athon this weekend across the country, and just like every year since 2001, I will be participating. Crohn’s & Colitis affects over 500,000 americans, that’s on in every 544 people. IBD (Inflammatory Bowel Disease) is most commonly diagnosed during the ages of 14-21, but can affect any age group and any race just the same. The cause is unknown, and a cure non-existent. For anyone who knows of or is a person that suffers from these horrible diseases, you know how important fundraising is, the CCFC only has a few fundraisers each year. If you would like to donate to the cause you can either sponsor me here, or donate directly to the CCFC. If you are living in the US and would prefer to donate there, you can do that here. Breast Idea Ever

Is the possibility of charging your iPod with the movement of your chest really an option? According to treehugger.com, it could be! After doing research it was discovered that a D-cup sized chest, in a low impact bra, moves up to 35cm during exercise! Even tho, as pointed out, none of us sporting a D-cup would consider wearing a low impact bra, they still move around quite a bit. Who knows what the future hold in terms of technology, but if my oversized chest can actually (for once) make my works out’s better, I’m game! Full story.
